Welcoming a new addition to the family is one of the most special moments in life. At Hahnemann University Hospital, we're committed to providing safe, healthy deliveries while keeping you, your baby and loved ones comfortable and informed. 

Whether you choose natural childbirth or need medical intervention, we are here to support you through the labor process. We have extensive expertise in low- and high-risk situations.

Our maternity facility provides advanced technology, inviting décor, and is designed with comfort and privacy in mind. Our Labor and Delivery Department features:

  • Three private triage rooms (evaluation and assessment)
  • Seven labor and delivery rooms that allow up to three labor support visitors during the delivery process
  • 17 postpartum rooms, the majority of which are semi- and fully-private
  • A 16-bed Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), providing specialized care for babies who need comprehensive, advanced care 
  • 24/7 postpartum support, including overnight visitation privileges for a loved one
  • A well-baby nursery 
At Hahnemann, you can rest easy knowing our staff is here to help at a moment’s notice. We have obstetricians, perinatologists, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, midwives and nurses on hand to help any time you need it. Our anesthesiologists specialize in maternity and provide customized pain management services for each mother. We’re also provide advanced care to women who experience complications during labor and may require a cesarean section. 

High-Quality Care

Hahnemann University Hospital is designated as an Aetna Elective Delivery Infant Safe Program facility. The designation recognizes hospital that have safety guidelines to prevent deliveries prior to 39 completed weeks of pregnancy. Facilities designated as an Aetna Elective Delivery Infant Safe Program also have and maintain quality improvement programs.

Hahnemann University Hospital is extremely proud of our low c-section rate, which is consistent with standards set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Hahnemann University Hospital identifies human milk as the optimal nutrition for infants. We participate in the Keystone 10 Initiative, which promotes the 10 steps to successful breastfeeding.

Prenatal Medicine

Our Center for Genetics and Fetal Medicine offers counseling, consultation and management for women with high-risk pregnancies. Our team of doctors specializes in reproductive genetics and provides prenatal diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, carrier testing, ultrasound, fetal blood sampling and other screening procedures.
