The Charles C. Wolferth Trauma Center

When life-threatening trauma occurs, prompt, comprehensive care can make all the difference. Since 1986, Hahnemann University Hospital has offered the highest level of trauma care at The Charles C. Wolferth Trauma Center, the first designated Level I Trauma Center for adults in the greater Philadelphia region. Hahnemann University Hospital is accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation — the accrediting body for trauma programs throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

We have a comprehensive team that includes emergency medicine doctors, trauma surgeons, orthopedists, neurosurgeons and other specialty practitioners.

Trauma center doctors and staff are dedicated to providing excellent care for all trauma patients, offering quality education for attending physicians, residents and students, and researching conditions affecting patient care and teaching. Hahnemann plays an important role not only in resuscitation and acute care of trauma patients, but also in providing educational opportunities to providers serving in Philadelphia and surrounding communities.

Hahnemann has a full-spectrum of specialists on-duty and available around-the-clock to serve the most critical trauma cases.
