Direct Admission Unit

After being seen at a physician’s office, non-emergent patients who need to be admitted to Hahnemann University Hospital are admitted to a patient floor much sooner through the hospital’s Direct Admission Unit located on the 4th Floor, North Tower (Room 443). The unit offers a relaxed setting for patients being directly admitted to the hospital.

Upon entering the hospital, ambulatory patients who are referred from a physician’s office are taken to the dedicated, self-contained, Direct Admission Unit. There, a registered nurse initiates the admission process while coordinating patient care and placement to the appropriate receiving unit.

The goal of the Direct Admission Unit is to provide excellent patient service in a comfortable clinical setting with a rapid transition to patient floors.

Hahnemann’s Direct Admission Area is accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Division of Acute and Ambulatory Care.
